Cube Envy: Pimp My Cube!

Do you spend five days a week in a mind-numbing office cubicle? Make it a home away from home with a few simple additions.

My cloth-covered cube in an otherwise bland corporate headquarters is anything but boring thanks to a $5 fabric remnant found at Designer Fabrics. Seamed (thanks Mike!) and stapled to the baffling, the large-scale floral pattern does wonders to jazz up those dreary office hours. No windows in your space? Try a sunny lamp like this chrome beauty from Toronto’s fantastic Aristocrat Lighting ($90, plus $30 shade). Throw in a groovy vintage guest chair and a bit of greenery and you’ll have a cube that’s a cut above. Having a swish space is also great incentive to keep your desk tidy and that’s bound to boost your productivity, as well as your spirit.

I love that fabric but I can’t find it on the Designer Fabrics website! Do you know the designer name or the name of the fabric? Thanks so much.

Love this Cube Envy idea. Just came across your blog - keep up the good work - I know how much time it takes to keep up with one.

This is awesome! I’m definitely looking for funky, florally, retro fabric and will mimic what you did. So true, we spend so much time in our cubicles, why not “dress it up”? I’m truly inspired now - thanks.
