Mike came home yesterday to a brand new living room. Well, not new exactly, just re-imagined. Ever since the dog ate the orange flokati I've been stewing about the state of the room. Without that rug, the orange drapes and orange lampshade just didn't feel integral anymore. So I turfed them, switched them out with other drapes and lamps we had elsewhere. Yes, it may be time for a decorating intervention . . .

Decorating should be fun, which is one reason I resist the temptation to go all Martha Stewart on you, dear readers. I know most of your homes aren't "done" yet and neither is ours; we slink along changing things up a little or a lot at a time. But a recent rash of brass polishing at our house made me suddenly aware of the details that have gone overlooked for years.

We Canadians are a funny bunch; in the weeks leading up to Canada's July 1 birthday (142-years old today!) flags appear on porches across the country, and then in the weeks that follow our national holiday, those same flags get folded up and put away for another year. What's wrong with us? Canada has much to be proud of and so much worth celebrating -- I think we should all be flying flags 365 days a year.

Hershey’s challenged designers Arren Williams and Karen Sealy to reinvent a small suite at Toronto’s Delta Chelsea Hotel using Hershey’s newest milk chocolate bar collection as their inspiration. Each designer was given $2,500, a week to plan and two days to transform their spaces—Williams took the bedroom, Sealy got the living room . . .
