Alison MacAlpine graduated from McGill University with an Honours BA in English Literature. Working in book publishing for Robert Davies Publishing, ECW Press and maranGraphics gave her essential copy editing and proofreading skills, which she reinforced with courses and seminars offered by Ryerson University, the Editors’ Association of Canada and the Banff Publishing Workshop.
As Communications Coordinator and then Editorial Director at Trimark Investments, Alison managed the quarterly Trimark Investor and monthly Trimark Exchange newsletters, distributed to more than a million investors and about 45,000 financial advisors, respectively. She participated actively in story meetings, worked closely with other writers and delivered compelling articles for a demanding audience.
Alison established AM Communications in 1999. Since that time, she has attracted interest from editors seeking creative, lively articles that require minimal editing and rewriting, and launched a successful magazine writing career. Her articles have appeared in Scarlett, Advisor’s Edge, Benefits Canada, Canadian Healthcare Manager and Diabetes Dialogue.
In 2005, Alison won a Gold KRW Award from the Canadian Business Press for her Advisor's Edge article "Hidden Millionaires."
